Introducing the Students’ Union
The Students’ Union is the official representative body of the students of Corvinus University of Budapest. This association, often referred to as HÖK, is responsible for many aspects of the university life: We give aid in academic matters; cooperate with the university management; host both daytime and evening events; help international students and even manage the life of other student organizations or of the many colleges of the university. Hence, we are everywhere, but our goal is constant: Promoting a high-quality university experience for Corvinus students, emphasizing independence as a core value in both professional and social realms!
The Student Union (HÖK) is a significant student organization with over 100 members. Strategic leadership is provided by a three-member Presidency and a ten-member Executive Board, while daily operations are managed across eight different areas. The Vice President for Advocacy is responsible for the Education Area, the Students' Union and Colleges Area, the International Area and the Student Social Committee. The Vice President for Management is responsible for the Communication Area, the Economic Area, the Event Management Area and the HR Area.
Interest representation
The interest representation sub-site of HÖK is led by the vice president of interest representation, under whose supervision 4 areas carry out the operative work. Get to know these activities! Our 4 representatives delegated to the Senate have the right of veto in several matters affecting the Students. By using this responsibly, we managed to fight for and protect the right to object collision, for example. In the Committees - among which those dealing with responsibility (e.g. ERSHub, Equal Opportunities) and those related to university operations (e.g. Educational, Academic, Disciplinary, Credit Transfer) - we have distinct responsibilities for protecting the interests of the students concerned.
For example, the Student Job Center and the Student Forums are used to get to know the opinions of the students. Communication with student organizations takes place at the Student Organization and College Councils and Forums, and the integration and advocacy of international students is supported by the International Student Club and the Advisory Board. Within the HÖK, the Student Social Committee carries out its work, among other things, its members work to ensure that the scholarship funds determined by the University are distributed as fairly as possible.
In addition, we carry out countless other activities: organization of specialized delegations, accreditation of student organizations, assistance in the implementation of foreign part-time courses, participation in professional development, onboarding, rule changes, etc. And finally, the most important thing: we are in constant contact with the leaders and staff of the University, so that we can inform you and, if necessary, speak out against decisions that adversely affect students!
